Q. What is a domain name?

A. A domain name is the .com, .org or other extension that allows visitors to find your Web site. It’s the equivalent of having a phone number—and, like a telephone number, each domain name is absolutely unique. Domain names make it easier to find your Web site. By registering a domain name you also block someone else from getting it. Once you have secured a domain name, your potential and existing clients can then find you without hunting your location or confusing you with another company with the same name that may be in a different geographical location.
